Sunday Reading Meditations

The celebration of the Mass has Christ as the principal agent of the Eucharist.  He presides invisibly as its high priest, while the bishop or priest acts in a visible way as he presides over the ceremony, speaks after the readings, receives the offerings, and says the Eucharistic Prayer.  The priest, as Christ's visible agent makes new for his hearers, the messages of the Old Testament, the Psalms, the New Testament readings and the Gospel so their meanings will become a part of each person's daily life.
